This is undoubtedly my favorite time of year. It is time to spend and really appreciate the people that mean the most to us. With good food, great laughs, lovely music, and presents galore, who could dislike such a time of year. Bah Humbug. Hush it up,
Scrooge. Forget the fact that its bitter cold and our heating bills are rocketing. Or, the fact that we max out credit cards to please everyone by purchasing the best present. Never mind that the children are home from school. All day. Do the breaks seem gradually longer to you, too? Don't concern yourself with the co-worker who insists on wearing her lightbulb earings everday until Christmas. You know, the ones that flicker and blink and are on the verge of causing you a seizure. Why bother mentioning the weight we gain from eating holiday cakes and hams in our body weight. Really, why even bother? Oh, and don't even consider the electric bill by making sure our house has the brightest front yard. We must not want the family across the street to get an ounce of sleep for the month of December. Rudolph's nose needs to shine brightly all night long! Brighter! Directly into the bedroom windows if he has to!! What? We need to prove a point.
Besides all of that and all of the insanity this time of year brings us, the holidays, as previously mentioned are a time to spend with the ones we love. It's a time to remember the birth of our savior and it's a time to be thankful. So, take the time away from your iPhones and computer screens (once you're finished reading this of course!) and spend sometime with the people most important to you. Enjoy a movie, enjoy a book, enjoy a talk around the fireplace, or enjoy a board game. Whatever it is, enjoy yourself, and be safe.
I wish all of you a blessed holiday season and a Happy New Year!
